If you find yourself in jail and need some help, we might be able to offer some. When an activist is arrested for peaceful civil disobedience or non-cooperation, we usually put money in their commissary account right away. This will be available to you after you have processed.
Sometimes we will post bail, but don't count on it. Our resources are limited, and bail is expensive and risky. Each incident will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.
If you will be incarcerated for a while, we might be able to help you pay rent or take care of your pets or other obligations.
The Fund offers an Activist's Living Will, which is a place where you can privately tell us ahead of time what your preferences are if you should end up in jail. For example, some activists don't want to be bailed out on principle. Others don't want to be represented by a lawyer. Tell us, and we'll try to do what we can to make your stay less stressful.
